Hi all, traveled to Sardinia last week and put down a $50 deposit with Discovercars. When we arrived at Cagliari airport the local car rental service (the supplier) told a huge angry line of customers that “their system is down” and “they don’t know when it will be up again - it could be an hour, it could be a full day”. The supplier was very apologetic and promised us they will “speak to the broker”. Obviously we weren’t going to stick around waiting for a full day so we went with another car rental shop.
Explained all of this to Discovercars and they asked us to provide our boarding pass so they can speak to the supplier. After that radio silence. I’ve followed up multiple times. Don’t think I’m getting back my $50 and I opened a PayPal dispute.
Just some advice if you’re thinking about saving a couple bucks through these online websites. If it seems too good to be true it probably is. At the end we used Enterprise and it cost us €330 (we chose the most expensive “worry free” option) for 5 days in Sardinia and the experience there was seamless.
