Hi all. I’m flying from eastern US to France in 2 days and I’m wondering if some of you experience my kind of jet lag and if you have tips to lessen it.
Every single time I arrive to Europe it takes me about 2-3 hrs before I feel like I’m going to pass out from the exhaustion. I start feeling dizzy, I get headaches, I feel desoriented, weak, and the light bothers me. I feel like my body progressively slows down the more time I spend awake after arrival. I’ve been lucky that every single time I’ve managed to check in early to my accommodation and take a long nap that gets me ready for the rest of the day. But, I’m not so lucky this time, as I arrive at 9 AM and the check in isn’t until 3 PM (15:00). I really don’t know what to do or where to rest during all of that time and I’m worried I’m going to feel horrible, and I’m not exaggerating with the whole passing out thing as it’s happened to me in different occasions in my life.
If you experience severe jet lag like I do, do you have some tips? I typically stay well hydrated and sleep on my flight, but it doesn’t make a difference. Thanks!
Edit: I forgot to mention that I always take a nap after I arrive to Europe and it makes my jet lag nearly disappear. I never have trouble sleeping at night from there on. I’ve read that you’re supposed to fight sleep and stay awake but it’s been almost Impossible and when I try to fight is when I feel super unwell.
Edit2: not sure why my post was downvoted so much, but thank you all for your recommendations! I feel a lot more prepared now :)
