Recently went on a trip to Canada & NY (we’re from California) w my parents and it was awful. Basically my mom would book flights in the late night to early morning, we would arrive at our destination at like 7am, but wouldn’t be able to check-in to our hotels until 4pm. Hence, we’d explore the city in the meantime carrying all of our luggage around without any sleep for hours. They also had absolutely no preparation or itinerary for activities, so we would walk to places for miles only to find out it was closed, then walk back and go home for the day. Another example, my mom booked a hotel in NJ w the idea that we’d use a rental car and pay to park each day on the outskirts of NY (about an hour drive) and then take the train into NY to explore because it would be cheaper than a hotel or airbnb in NY itself. Like it was just an absolute waste of travel time and so much stress and probably ended up costing more than it would have to just stay in NYC.
