My flight’s been delayed for 24 hours

Context: I had a morning flight to SFO from MDW with my wife. We were already seated on a packed flight with iffy weather conditions (slight rain and typical Chicago wind I assume). We got delayed because their engineers said we wouldn’t be able to fly with the headwind, amount of passengers, and cargo (TBC, there were still a few empty seats). So they were looking for volunteers to hop on another flight and they didn’t get enough.

Long story short, we were told (not asked) to deboard the plane. I talked to 2 agents at the gate to settle everything. They got everyone’s info and they said they would email the ~15 passengers that got bumped. I was told compensation would be: next day flight around the same time same airline, 4x the original amount paid, no hotel (not even a refund for hotel in SF), and nothing else. We were reassured this and told we can leave the airport already. Email arrives around 5 hours later and the amount offered was the original payment + $40. Nowhere near the 4x promised which is what made me comfortable leaving the airport/situation. I can ask them again at the gate tomorrow morning but I am afraid they will deny til they die. Do I have any recourse in this case?

Edit: Frontier Airlines #2483 departure: 10:35AM CT New flight: #2483 dep 11:11AM CT
