I am a 20yo American F who can only speak English and have been offered two Summer 2024 tech internships, one in Tokyo and another in Toronto that will both last 2 months. I am torn between the two options.:
Tokyo:
Pros: very different culture than home (America), a lot to learn in the technology scene, I have never traveled outside of the West, a lot of new experiences/opportunities, good public transportation.
Cons: Afraid that I may feel isolated/ lonely, may not be able to adjust/make friends, giant time zone difference
Toronto:
Pros: Nightlife, familiar culture but some new things to experience, the job opportunity is better on paper, sameish timezone as home
Cons: May not be much out of my comfort zone, will regret not trying something new
I also wanted to add that I am living in Madrid in the Spring, and maybe I should just plan on staying there or just going home... maybe I will be burnt out
